Practical Information
Front Door
- Pull the black door knob towards you while turning the key to open the door.
- Please just pull the door closed when you go out, and do not lock it with the key. The lock is prone to sticking and this can make it difficult to get back in. The neighbourhood is very safe so it’s also not necessary to lock the door 🙂
WIFI
The login details will be sent to you just before arrival.
Towels
Towels are in the middle cupboard next to the dining table. There is a wooden towel rack in each bedroom. Please put used towels in the washing machine and just close the door, and I will take care of washing them.
Hair Dryer & Toiletries
- The bathroom has soap, shampoo, conditioner, shower gel, cotton pads and cotton buds.
- The hair dryer is in the middle cupboard next to the dining table. There’s a 2nd hair dryer in the small wardrobe in the corner of the living room.
- There are some essentials in the middle cupboard next to the dining table in case you need them e.g. sanitary towels.
Iron
The iron is in the middle cupboard next to the dining table. The ironing board is under the sofa.
Clothes Cupboards
My own wardrobes are locked during rentals but there are guest wardrobes for you to use. There’s one in the dining area and one in the corner of the living room. Both have locks.
Main Bedroom
Please note that the double windows do not open. Here’s how to use the latch on the small window. It can be opened fully but this video shows how to open it and stop it from moving, which is perfect if you like to sleep with the window open.
Small Bedroom
The window blind has a small white remote control on the windowsill. Please note there’s a white connector plugged in next to the radiator – this must be left connected for the remote control to work.
Outside Area
- There is a table with chairs for outside dining. During the summer there are cushions and a barbecue.
- Please use the ashtray for smoking outside.
- Please note that there is a cul-de-sac behind the apartment and noise travels very easily so please try to keep sound/music to a reasonable level during the evening.
Bathroom
- Help yourself to shower gel, shampoo and conditioner.
- Extra toilet rolls are in the cupboard next to the dining table.
Kitchen
- Coffee filters and coffee are in the cupboard above the coffee machine. For a half jug of water use about 3.5 level scoops of coffee.Â
- There is a selection of different teas and also biscuits.
- Help yourself to anything in the cupboards: cooking oils, ingredients, spices, herbs, tea etc.
- Ice is in the top shelf of the freezer.
Diswasher
- Dishwasher tablets are in the cupboard opposite the sink. Just throw the dishwasher tablet into the dishwasher and select the 60 minute wash which is usually long enough unless items are very dirty.
- If you are renting one private bedroom only then just put whatever you’ve used in the dishwasher. I take care of cleaning and emptying the dishwasher every day.
Combined Washer / Dryer
- The dial and buttons are all in English.
- The liquid detergent and conditioner is in the bottom cupboard opposite the sink.
- There is a clothes drying rack folded under the living room sofa.
- There is a washing line outside and clothes pegs are in the top part of the cupboard opposite the sink
Garbage & Recycling
- For general waste disposal please use the garbage container which is 1 minute walk away: turn left out of the front door, then take the first left. You’ll see the garbage containers just ahead on your right. You need a card to open the container for general waste. The card is on the shelf in the kitchen, next to the light switch. This is what it looks like:

- There are bins under the sink for plastic, tins and paper. The recycling bins for these are right next to the general waste containers and you do not need a card for those bins.
- Put glass, drink cans and plastic drink bottles in the small black bin outside the back door. I will take care of this recycling.
Heating
The heating is on a timer. Let me know if it’s too hot or too cold and I’ll adjust the settings up or down (remotely using an app).
In case you get cold the thermostat is on the kitchen shelf, near the light switch. Use the button at the bottom right. Push twice for room temperature and then push the ‘up’ arrow to increase temperature. This will boost the heating for 60 mins.

Guest Bicycle
You’re welcome to use the guest bicycle which is useful for grocery shopping. The key is hanging on the coat hook in the hallway.
